Bowdoin College, Brunswick. This event coincides with 50th anniversary of Africana Studies at Bowdoin. The exhibition, panel, and its ensuing discussion will address global influences in the conceptualization, creation, and display of African art. The panel will speak to some of the questions raised by the 2018 release of the now famous French Ministry of Culture’s Savoy/Sarr Report on “The Restitution of African Cultural Heritage,” which invites those responsible for private and museum collections alike to rethink global relationship ethics.
